Lion, a.k.a King of the Jungle. Great symbolic and loveable animals. Cute yet dangerous. In August 10, we are celebrating World Lion Day. A special day for tons of lion lovers like me.
Unfortunately, the lion population in the last 50 years have been declining for nearly 95%! Making us seeing more lion statuses than there actually are roaming across Africa. All these because of human conflicts. If we don’t act soon, one day we will only live in a world where the only lions we know are statuses and paintings.
In response of this situation, National Geographic decided along Explorers-In-Residence to make a global awareness campaign called the Big Cats Initiative (BCI). Until today, the BCI has given up to 1.75 million dollars toward big cats conservation projects.
In order of the celebration of this beautiful day, National Geographic is inviting everyone to make an uproar saving lions and other big cats animals.
Choose one of these ways, or if you want do all of them!

• Help build boma fences. Boma fences are fortified enclosures that protect livestock from lions. These in turn help protect lions and other big cats from retaliatory killings when livestock are killed. You can help build boma fences by starting a campaign or making a direct donation by visitingbuildaboma.org.
• Text “LIONS” to 50555 to donate $10 to on-the-ground conservation through the Big Cats Initiative. Message and data rates apply. Terms and conditions: mgv.cc/t. ” -National Geographic, July 30, 2014
